Scope<\/strong><\/p>\n 1.1 This practice covers a simple, rapid practice to prove the identity of a rubber chemical before incorporation into a rubber mix by comparison of its infrared absorption spectrum with that of a reference specimen.<\/p>\n 1.2 This technique can also be used to detect gross contamination or large differences in rubber chemicals. Thus, it can provide a basis for producer-consumer agreement.<\/p>\n 1.3 Wherever \u201c<\/span>infrared spectrophotometer\u201d<\/span> is used, \u201c<\/span>Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR)\u201d<\/span> may also be understood.<\/p>\n 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
