1 Scope <\/b><\/p>\n
1.1 These requirements cover exhibition display unit constructions that are intended for indoor use for the purpose of illuminating, animating, activating, or displaying with respect to temporary expositions, exhibits, show conventions, meetings, or assemblies. These units are intended for temporary construction and display at exposition events. Electrical components and systems shall be used in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70 and with the installation requirements of this standard. These requirements also cover portable tradeshow displays, hanging components, and other exhibit assemblies.<\/p>\n
1.2 These requirements cover exhibition display units rated 600 volts ac or less.<\/p>\n
1.3 These requirements cover light boxes for use with exhibition display units. Electric advertising displays and electric signs are covered by Standard for Electric Signs, UL 48.<\/p>\n
1.3.1 These requirements cover under carpet convention center cord sets and assembled on or molded on attachment plugs and cord connectors, rated 250 volts dc or less or 600 volts ac or less, that are intended to supply temporary power from an exhibit facility to an exhibition display unit or to exhibitor equipment and products that are displayed or exhibited within the exhibition display unit, in accordance with 518.3(B) of the National Electrical Code, ANSI\/NFPA 70.<\/p>\n
1.4 These requirements do not cover products that are displayed or exhibited within the exhibition display unit, such as cars, audio equipment, appliances, or exhibitor equipment.<\/p>\n
1.5 These requirements do not cover combustible materials stored within an exhibition display unit, such as promotional pamphlets or giveaways.<\/p>\n
1.6 These requirements do not cover the use of the following materials and their interconnecting components used in an exhibition display unit:<\/p>\n
\na)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Natural gas-fired equipment,<\/p>\n
b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Cooking equipment,<\/p>\n
c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Open flame devices,<\/p>\n
d)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Exhibits involving processes or materials that present a risk of injury to persons,<\/p>\n
e)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Pressure vessels,<\/p>\n
f)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Fossil fuel powered equipment,<\/p>\n
g)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Hydraulically powered equipment using flammable fluids,<\/p>\n
h)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Radiation producing devices, including lasers, <\/p>\n
i)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Flammable liquids, and<\/p>\n
j)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Compressed air that is determined to be not part of an exhibition display unit.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
1.7 A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those covered by the requirements in this standard, and that involves a risk of fire or of electric shock or injury to persons shall be evaluated using appropriate additional component and end-product requirements to maintain the level of safety as originally anticipated by the intent of this standard. A product whose features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems conflict with specific requirements or provisions of this standard does not comply with this standard. Revision of requirements shall be proposed and adopted in conformance with the methods employed for development, revision, and implementation of this standard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
