This British Standard gives the nominal sizes and dimensions of the following types of auger and auger bit:—
Scotch pattern eyed auger, with round shank.
Solid centre auger bit (Jennings pattern nose).
Scotch pattern auger bit.
Jennings pattern auger bit.
The nomenclature used is defined on an annotated drawing.
Provisions are given relating to steel analysis, heat treatment, hardness, finish, accuracy, soundness and performance tests.
