The Aluminum Association conducted surveys and research during 2001 to develop this North American Aluminum Industry Plant Directory, Second Edition. Survey results indicate 59 plant locations in Canada, 28 in Mexico, and 470 in the United States (including Puerto Rico), operated by about 334 companies. The chart below shows the distribution of plants, by type of facility, for Canada, Mexico and the United States for 1999 and 2001. See the chart on page 6 for distribution of plants by state within the United States.
