1 Scope<\/b><\/p>\n

1.1 These requirements cover pressure regulators for use with LP-Gas equipment.<\/p>\n

NOTE: For the purposes of this standard the terms \u201cLP-Gas\u201d and \u201cPropane\u201d are interchangeable.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n

1.2 Regulators covered by these requirements are intended to be installed and used in systems in accordance with the applicable Codes and Regulations as determined by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), such as, but not limited to:<\/p>\n

  1. \n

    a) In the United States:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. \n

      1)\u00a0Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code, NFPA 58;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    2. \n

      2)\u00a0National Fuel Gas Code, NFPA 54;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    3. \n

      3)\u00a0Outdoor Cooking Gas Appliances, CSA\/AM ANSI Z21.58\/CSA 1.6; and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n

    4. \n

      b) In Canada:<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. \n

        1)\u00a0Natural gas and propane installation code, CSA B149.1;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      2. \n

        2)\u00a0Outdoor Cooking Gas Appliances, CSA\/AM ANSI Z21.58\/CSA 1.6;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      3. \n

        3)\u00a0CAN\/CSA Z240 RV Series, Recreational Vehicles;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      4. \n

        4)\u00a0CAN\/CSA Z241 Series, Park model trailers; and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      5. \n

        5)\u00a0Provincial or other Regulations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        1.3 These requirements do not cover:<\/p>\n

          \n
        1. \n

          a)\u00a0Compressed gas regulators;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        2. \n

          b)\u00a0Gas appliance pressure regulators;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        3. \n

          c)\u00a0Regulators for use in chemical, petroleum, or utility power plants; pipeline or marine terminals; or related storage facilities at such plants or terminals;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        4. \n

          d)\u00a0Combination gas control valves for gas appliances;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        5. \n

          e)\u00a0Regulators for use in oxygen-fuel, gas-welding, and cutting operations; and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        6. \n

          f)\u00a0Regulators for use in engine fuel (automotive and\/or marine) applications.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          The requirements for (a) \u2013 (e) are covered in: the Standard for Compressed Gas Regulators, UL 252, or CGA E-4, Standard for Compressed Gas Regulators; and in the Standard for Gas Appliance Pressure Regulators, CSA\/AM CSA\/ANSI Z21.18\/CSA 6.3, and in the Standard for Combination Gas Controls for Gas Appliances, CSA\/AM CSA\/ANSI Z21.78\/CSA 6.20, respectively.<\/p>\n
