The protocol maintains bit-count integrity by<br \/>\ndelivering cumulative nibble counts to layer 3. It requires an<br \/>\nunderlying half-rate, full-rate, double-rate, or triple-rate<br \/>\ndigital traffic channel as specified in TIA-136-131, 132, and 133<br \/>\n[5].<\/p>\n<p>To aid the reader, \u00a7\u00a7 2 and 3 contain descriptive information: \u00a7<br \/>\n2 provides an overview; \u00a7 3 describes the protocol&#039;s structure. \u00a7\u00a7<br \/>\n4 and 5 contain requirements: \u00a7 4 specifies RLP2 signals; \u00a7 5<br \/>\nspecifies pro cesses. References appear in \u00a7 6. Finally, Annex A<br \/>\nlists and defines acronyms.<\/p>\n<p>Readers will find the following documents helpful in<br \/>\nunderstanding this standard: X.200 [3] and Z.100 [4].<\/p>\n<p>Similar to X.200, this standard uses reference models to<br \/>\norganize concepts and requirements into a logical structure.
