To estimate the heat generated, ESDU 78027 assumes the friction in the bearing is known; guidance on the value is provided where no information is available. To estimate the heat dissipation, equations and graphs are given to establish the thermal resistance of the various component parts such as bushes, housings, rotating shafts, and so on.
