This International Standard deals with the safety of stationary electric cooking ranges<\/b>, hobs<\/b>, ovens<\/b> and similar appliances for household use, their rated voltage<\/b> being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances connected between one phase and neutral, and 480 V for other appliances.<\/p>\n
This International Standard also includes some requirements for ovens<\/b> that are intended to be used on board ships.<\/p>\n Examples of appliances that are within the scope of this standard are<\/p>\n griddles<\/b>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n grills<\/b>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n induction hobs<\/b>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n induction wok elements<\/b>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n pyrolytic self-cleaning ovens<\/b>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n steam ovens<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n As far as is practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons in household and similar environments<\/p>\n However, in general, it does not take into account:<\/p>\n children<\/b> playing with the appliance,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n the use of the appliance by very young children<\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n the use of the appliance by young children<\/b> without supervision,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n It is recognized that very vulnerable people<\/b> may have needs beyond the level addressed in this standard.<\/p>\n Attention is drawn to the fact that<\/p>\n for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n in many countries, additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities, the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour, the national water supply authorities and similar authorities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n This standard does not apply to<\/p>\n appliances intended for commercial catering;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n grills, toasters and similar portable cooking appliances ( IEC 60335\u20112\u20119<\/span> <\/span>);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n microwave ovens ( IEC 60335\u20112\u201125<\/span> <\/span>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Household and similar electrical appliances.
