{"id":212951,"date":"2024-10-19T13:47:32","date_gmt":"2024-10-19T13:47:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/uncategorized\/bs-85612013\/"},"modified":"2024-10-25T06:40:31","modified_gmt":"2024-10-25T06:40:31","slug":"bs-85612013","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/publishers\/bsi\/bs-85612013\/","title":{"rendered":"BS 8561:2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This British Standard specifies the requirements and associated test methods applicable to fittings with flexible, flexible restrained and restrained joints intended for connection to existing water supply pipes for the purposes of localized repair, new branch connections or pipeline rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>NOTE These fittings may additionally connect to new pipe materials to replace faulty sections of existing pipe.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It also specifies requirements for materials and dimensions and gives performance requirements for joints.<\/p>\n<p>It applies to fittings in the diameter range of DN&nbsp;50 to DN 1&nbsp;800 made for use on the following pipe materials other than polyethylene (PE):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>grey iron;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>ductile iron;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>steel;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>polyvinyl chloride (PVC);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>fibre cement; and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>glass-reinforced polyester (GRP).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It applies to fittings in the diameter range of DN&nbsp;63 to DN 1&nbsp;000 made for use on the following PE pipe material:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>PE80 material (medium-density polyethylene \u2013 MDPE);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>PE100 material (high-density polyethylene \u2013 HDPE); and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>PE barrier pipe for contaminated land [4].<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This specification applies to fittings including (but not necessarily limited to) pipe couplings, flange adaptors, under pressure tees (including any similar components permanently installed on mains as part of flow isolation techniques or to facilitate equipment access into mains), repair clamps, pipe saddles and joint encapsulation units for both potable and non-potable applications.<\/p>\n<p>It applies to fittings which seal to both the existing water supply pipe, including corroded or physically degraded pipe surfaces, and any new pipe by mechanical compression of elastomeric seals, though pressure actuated sealing may additionally be incorporated.<\/p>\n<p>It also gives performance requirements for fittings designed to provide axial restraint when installed on the existing pipe.
