Introduction
[TIA/EIA-732-630] describes the CDPD Layer 3 usage accounting
information and the protocol for exchanging that accounting
information between CDPD Service Providers. The accounting
information is exchanged as Home Accounting Segments (HASs) between
Serving Service Providers and Primary and Routing Service
Providers. (See Figure 1023-1)
HASs are sent as an X.400 InterPersonal Message (IPM) within an
External Body Part (see [TIA/EIA-732-620]).
This Part describes the mechanism for exchanging summary and
settlement information between Service Providers. Summary
information includes the results of rating and taxing the usage
activity as recorded in HASs. It also includes charges for other
activities. Inter-Service Provider settlement is enabled by the
exchange of settlement information.
In addition, this Part describes the edits and returns process
associated with the exchange of HASs, Summary Segments and
Settlement Segments.
