ESDU 14014 provides a computerized method for estimating static-to-flight effects on coaxial jet noise. The method is a theoretically-based one which reflects the known aerodynamic characteristics of both single-stream and coaxial jets. In essence, the coaxial jet mixing noise is broken up into three single-stream jet noise sources and then static-to-flight effects applied to each source before reconstituting them. The static-to-flight effects computed from the difference between the predicted static and flight spectra may be applied to a static spectrum provided by the user or to the one generated by the prediction method.
