The National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards is an
interdisciplinary, nonprofit organization incorporated in 1968.
Representatives from the professions, industry, and government
formed the committee in 1966 to promote the development and the
voluntary use of national and international standards and
guidelines that are needed for improved operation of clinical
laboratories. These include specifications for biological and
chemical reagents or reference materials, reference methods or
procedures, operating methods, controls for equipment, or other
applicable maters. NCCLS represents a cross section of professions,
industry and government. It is not a source for actual materials in
quality control.
