The purpose of this publication is to draw attention to the danger which can arise from the mismatch of the different thread forms and sizes in use at the present time. The responsible BSI technical committees, MEE/1, Screw threads, and MEE/60, Bolts, nuts and accessories, have considered this problem and have agreed that it should be publicized. They have also agreed to the issue of amendment slips to BS 1580 and BS 3643, drawing attention to the possibility of mismatch.
Draws attention to the possibility of mismatch with the different screw thread forms available and makes recommendations to avoid this possibility.
