Provides a specification of a test suite structure and test purposes for the whole of the FTAM protocol. This Standard is identical with, and has been reproduced from, ISO/IEC 10170-1:1993.
Scope
This part of ISO/IEC 10170 specifies a test suite structure and test purposes for the whole of the FTAM protocol, as defined in ISO 8571. This part of ISO/IEC 10170 does not specify how conformance test are to be realised or used, nor how the test results are to be presented or used.
This part of ISO/IEC 10170 specifies the relationship, between the elements of the test suite structure (test groups and test cases) and the Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma ISO 8571-5, which is to be used in test case selection.
This part of ISO/IEC 10170 applies to conformance test suites for testing FTAM protocol implementations which operate over a connection-oriented Association Control Service Element (ACS E) and Presentation services (ISO 8649 and ISO 8822) and which claims conformance to ISO 8850 and ISO 8823 respectively.
This part of ISO/IEC 10170 does not include a general assessment of performance, reliability or robustness of relevant protocol implementations, nor an assessment of the design of the protocol itself.
NOTE – The choice of test method may restrict the test purposes which can be realised.
This part of ISO/IEC 10170 does not address the testing of document types nor contents types of files.
